Behaviour Curriculum

At Streeton Primary School, we believe that students learn best in a safe, respectful and predictable environment. Our whole-school Behaviour Curriculum is built around our core values of Respect, Growth and Community, providing clear expectations, consistent routines and positive reinforcement to help every student thrive both academically and socially.

Our Behaviour Curriculum explicitly teaches students the behaviours and habits that support success at school and in life. Just as we teach literacy and mathematics, we also teach behavioural expectations, ensuring students understand how to demonstrate respect, contribute positively to our community and embrace opportunities for personal growth.

A key feature of our approach is the use of consistent routines across all year levels. Students are explicitly taught routines for classroom entry, exit and transitions between learning activities. These routines create calm, orderly classrooms where learning time is maximised and students know exactly what is expected of them. Teachers also use a consistent attention signal throughout the school, enabling students to quickly refocus and engage with learning. These shared practices help foster independence, self-regulation and a positive learning environment.

Positive behaviour is recognised and celebrated through our ClassDojo reward system. Students earn Dojo points for demonstrating our school values of Respect, Growth and Community through their actions, effort and interactions with others. This encourages students to make positive choices, recognise their achievements and contribute to a culture where success is celebrated.

When students experience challenges with behaviour, we focus on reflection and learning. Our Reflection Room provides students with a supportive space to reflect on their choices, understand the impact of their actions and develop strategies for future success. This approach encourages accountability while helping students strengthen their self-awareness, emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.
