Uniform Information

The Streeton school uniform is compulsory. This policy was approved by School Council after consultation and involvement with the whole school community. This means that every child is expected to wear school uniform every day. The school uniform is neat, attractive, economical and encourages children to identify with the school and feel a sense of 'belonging'. If parents wish, exemptions from wearing school uniform may be given, but these must be requested through the Principal to School Council.

More information: See below.

For a compulsory uniform policy to work all parents are responsible for ensuring that their children wear school uniform. There are no sanctions from the principal or staff for children not wearing school uniform, but children are positively encouraged to wear uniform. Children are expected to wear their school uniform for sport and on every excursion unless parents are informed otherwise in writing.

Children who assume leadership positions in the school e.g. School Captains, House Captains, Vice Captains and Junior School Council are also expected to wear school uniform as a model for other students.

Uniform Shop

The uniform shop is open every second MONDAY from 3.15pm to 3.45pm and is run by volunteers from the Uniform committee. The school also works on an order system. You don't need to come to the Uniform Shop to place an order. Simply fill out an order form with your payment details and ask your child to hand in at the Office.  When your order is filled, it will be given to your child. From time to time there may be limited stock available to purchase from the shop.

Parents are asked to pay for uniforms at the time of ordering by cash, cheque or credit card.   Sample dresses, track pants, windcheaters and polos are available for sizing. Two types of Sun Smart hats are available for purchase: Legionnaires and a Broad Brimmed Hat.

The last day of each term is usually an Out of Uniform or Dress Up Day. Other special dress up days are held throughout the year. These fun days are sometimes related to special events in the school's program or at other times to Junior School Council fundraising activities. Whatever the reason children can enjoy the opportunity to come out of uniform or to dress up occasionally for the payment of a gold coin. The money collected goes to Junior School Council projects.

Second Hand Uniforms

If your child has outgrown some articles or you are leaving the school and the clothing is in reasonable condition, you may wish to sell or donate it. Parents who wish to sell their second hand uniforms can place details in the second hand uniform register. Second hand items are usually not sold through the Uniform Shop. Donations of second hand clothing may be given to the Uniform Shop for assistance to families in need.

Spare clothing

As children sometimes have accidents at school we regularly need spare clothing. If you have good secondhand clothing you could donate, especially socks, shorts (boys and girls) and trousers, they could be left at the office.

Sunsmart Policy

We are a Sunsmart School. Our School Council Policy states that all students and staff will observe Sunsmart practices during Terms 1 and 4. Parents are requested to provide their children with a hat and sunscreen which can be kept in their child's locker at school. In this way they are always available when needed, whether it be for PE, Sport or recesses. A second hat in your child's bag, will ensure a hat is always accessible.
